• One of my favorite products!

SW_shrinkfreespackleMy walls were blanketed with posters as a teenager – the Three Stooges “Golf with friends”, Jerry Rice “Goldfingers”, and dozens of Seattle Seahawks game day posters from Pietro’s Pizza. poster to name a few. Needless to say my walls were a mess when they all came down. Thanksgiving and Christmas are just around the corner and you may be readying your home for guests. If fixing holes and re-painting is your undertaking let me make a suggestion for the pinpricks and dings and holes.

Please don’t use toothpaste – I have actually found that on an inspection to fill some holes in walls. It was a minty fresh solution but didn’t handle paint well!

Let me introduce you to one of my favorite products – SHRINK-FREE SPACKLE! I stopped by Sherwin Williams and snapped this picture of the container. It is shrink-free and fast-drying. The small container cost $4.29 and is great stuff I’ve been using for years. Apply this with your finger and wipe clean. Use a small putty knife for a smooth application on bigger holes. The stuff is my go-to with moulding, popping nail heads, screw and nail holes and other minor wall repairs. (If I get much bigger than 1/2 inch than I resort to more sophisticated steps.) When in mid-project and find a hole I missed I can apply this and get back to painting quickly. If you remove a picture grab it the container and plug the hole right away. It will look better than leaving the hole gaping. I find a small white speck blends in much better than a gaping puncture.

I keep a container in my garage. I keep the lid sealed tight so it doesn’t dry out and sometimes add a little water and mix with my finger until it feels like the right consistency. It’s worth keeping around. Sherwin Williams is the only place I’ve found this stuff. Just a cheap idea to help you out!
