• A Perfect “10” in Creativity

As the fall arrives with the rain and darker days I think this might brighten things up for you. I dedicate this to the many do-it-yourselfers out there who may not always be praised for a perfect attempt, but deserve a perfect 10 in effort! Here are more of my recent home inspection discoveries.

    Old Fashioned Water Basin

Some might consider this a sink but you will notice one very important missing component – the faucet! I could make up a story that not pictured is a water pitcher or an outdoor well from which you draw water for bathroom use. In actuality, this was a flipped house and the contractor neglected to install a bathroom faucet.

Strap or Strapless Vents – both are in style!

If you got an issue with something loose and flapping in the wind, and calling for help or visiting the local hardware store or YouTube-ing good repair options is just too much, search your garage. You’ll probably find something – like this metal strap that secured the damaged roof vent to the shingles! The nails driven through the metal strap were properly covered with roofing sealant to protect for leaks. Who’s gonna see something like this?

Open to New Ideas – aka “The Pallet Gate”

This old farm house decided to re-purpose a wood pallet for a gate. In this day of Etsy and re-using old stuff, I was impressed. I don’t think they were thinking of the trendiness of it or aesthetic appeal, but they pulled off something that I’m guessing Jo will be featuring in the next issue of Magnolia!
