• So Many (mis)Uses of Tape!

The popular adhesive unrolls in countless creative applications. A+ for creativity and a short-term fix. However, the tired and aging materials reveal a once temporary has become an indefinite, semi-permanent repair. Let’s get on with the fascinating ways people keep things up and in and on.

    #13 – Strap It To A Pole

This automatic garage door opener button was strapped to a pole in the carport. The metal shimmer of the original duct tape tells us that MacGyver was here!

#14 – Seal It So You Don’t Feel It

The attic access door permitted a cool draft in the winter months. This was near the bed and who can sleep in a wind chill? The beautiful, updated finish work in this room would have valued a little weather seal inside the door jam rather than the racy accent stripe.

#15 – Leak Stop As Seen on TV

Blue vinyl electrical tape can provide a (mostly) water proof barrier for leaking copper drain pipes. And for the minor moisture seepage, dangle a carry-out food tray below to catch the drips. Drain the tray weekly and you have a repair almost back to original condition!

#16 – Dang Good Door Doorstop

Why spend precious dollars when a food container lid and old fashion duct tape can do the same. And it screams look at me and my DIY ability and my incredible financial prowess. I know this was not a depression-era generation fix because of the incredible amount of wasted tape. I think the next door nail was to help the door in say in place with strap. Some creative nail uses is another article (So many uses for the common nail)!

    #17 – Leak Stop Version 2

Never worry about water leaking out or debris leaking in with your gutter downspout drains. Apply some tape at the connection and these connections will look like a pro’s handiwork.

#18 – Hold the Cover In Place

As furnace covers age their ability to stay in place diminishes. Clasps, latches and screws are damaged and lost. This home owner is not the first and will not be the last to use tape to keep a cover in place. You’ll notice this was not the first round of tape to hold the cover in place.
