• What in the world is that?

Always appreciate the opportunity to be an ongoing resource for clients. One of my clients earlier this year moved in and sent me numerous pictures of items he had questions about. After our email exchange he gave me permission to share the pictures and correspondence. You might have the same question he had!

This thing is inside the entryway closet, and it makes buzzing noise, quite loud. I checked – it’s not the doorbell, the doorbell is on the wall.

Answer: Doorbell transformer – it steps down voltage to the chime unit, see response below.

This box is in the laundry closet, looks like an ancient alarm system, but it was powered on for some reason.

Answer: Security system is my guess too – not sure why it is still powered.

These 2 boxes are in the hallway.

Answer: First box is a doorbell chime, second box is an old smoke detector – may be related/connected to the old security system box above.

This router is in the garage, was powered on, lots of network connections. I suspect it’s a part of the same alarm system?

Answer: Phone line / ethernet splitter, could be related to security system but seems newer and could be its own thing.

This is on the inside of the door leading to the backyard:

Answer: Security sensor for alarm system.

These 2 seems to be related, could be a floodlight with solar power? Or the solar panel is related to the dish? Doesn’t work anyway

Answer: Solar light – not related to dish.

This looks like some sort of weird timer from 50s:

Answer: Weird timer from the 80s and 90s.
