Often I ask my clients their do-it-yourself comfort level. Recently I have seen some do-it-yourself work that had me thinking that some people’s confidence far exceeds their ability (or at least their foresight!). Joining the many previous posts on creative home repairs I offer these ideas for those of you who enjoy doing home projects inexpensively (or twice)!
“Only the penitent man shall pass…”
This walkway likely found its inspiration in one of my favorite Harrison Ford movies, “Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade.” This will humbly keep you on your hands and knees as you ascend or descend the stairs. Hard hats are recommended as the total clearance is just under 3 feet!
Putting the public back into bathroom
For those of you who never want to miss the knock at the door, consider installing a large two-way window at the mudroom door. Then when you next hear the knock at the door, you can frantically motion to the FedEx delivery while comfortably seated at your toilet. This gives renewed meaning for public bathrooms!
Toilet decor for the serious golfer
Thematic additions can add fashion and style to your bathroom toilet. Cover the bolts securing your toilet to the floor with golf balls. I personally would advise adding an artificial turf toilet cover and a “Hole in one!” flag that pops up every time you flush. Let’s make using the bathroom interesting.
