Remember how annoying rotary dialing was with phone numbers that had lots of high numbers? Remember talking to an operator? Remember calling for the correct time – “at the tone the time will be…”? Remember the coiled cord that would knot up so you could barely remove the phone from the cradle when it rang? For that matter, remember what a phone cord was? Remember the clattering bell or piercing beeps when a call came in? Remember the sound cut-out of call waiting signaling a waiting call? Remember hooking up and programming answering machines? And how exciting digital answering machines were since they no longer required tapes? Remember the advent of cordless phones and their retractable antennas? Remember losing your cordless phone and hoping someone would call you so you could find it before the battery went dead? WAIT! I think we still have that problem…
